พลิกป้ายด้านในเสื้อ Kardo สักตัว จะเจอชื่อคนหนึ่งคน ไม่ใช่ชื่อโรงงาน ไม่ใช่รหัสล็อต แต่เป็นชื่อช่างที่ตัดเย็บเสื้อตัวนั้นตั้งแต่ชิ้นแรกจนติดกระดุมเม็ดสุดท้าย

ทุกตัวใน Kardo Fall/Winter 2026 ก็ทำแบบนั้น ตัวละหนึ่งคน

Rikki Kher โตที่ลอนดอน แม่เป็นช่างเย็บผ้าที่ตัดเสื้อให้เขาใส่จนอายุ 11 พ่อทำธุรกิจสิ่งทอ เขาเรียนธุรกิจที่ NYU Stern ทำงานด้านผ้าและ sourcing อยู่หลายประเทศ ก่อนจะตั้ง Kardo ในต้นยุค 2000s ด้วยจักรเย็บผ้าหนึ่งตัวกับช่างใหญ่หนึ่งคน ซึ่งทุกวันนี้ยังทำงานอยู่ที่นั่น เวิร์กช็อปอยู่ที่ Noida ชานเดลี ตอนนี้มีทีมราวร้อยคน และเพิ่งเปิดร้านแรกของตัวเองที่ Lodhi Colony ในเดลีเมื่อปลายปี 2025

ผ้าของ Kardo ไม่ได้มาจากโรงทอใหญ่ แต่มาจากชุมชนช่างฝีมือทั่วอินเดีย และบ่อยครั้งมีชื่อคนกำกับ Kher เคยพูดไว้ว่าสิ่งที่คนเรียกว่า slow fashion ก็คือวิธีที่อินเดียทำเสื้อผ้ามาตลอดอยู่แล้ว ใช้เวลา ใช้ฝีมือ ใช้คน

Autumn/Winter 2026 ของ Kardo ใช้ชื่อว่า DAFTAR และในดรอปที่ Onion ได้มามีเรื่องหนึ่งที่เห็นชัด ทรงเสื้อเป็นของที่คุ้นตาคนตะวันตกทั้งหมด Harrington, MA-1, work jacket, overshirt แต่ผ้าไม่คุ้นเลย MA-1 ตัวนี้ทอลาย herringbone ด้วยมือที่ Khamir Craft เมือง Bhuj แล้วพิมพ์บล็อกด้วยมือในภูมิภาคเดียวกัน เชิ้ต Luis ทอจาก khadi ของ Udyog Bharti แล้วให้ Md. Ashraf ช่างปักจากเบงกอลปัก ari ทีละแผง ผ้าพันคอผืนเล็กที่สุดในดรอปก็ผ่านมือ Sufiyan Khatri ที่ Ajrakhpur รัฐคุชราต

A Name on the Label

Turn a Kardo garment inside out and you find one person's name. Not a factory, not a lot number, but the tailor who made that piece from the first cut to the last button.

Everything in Kardo Fall/Winter 2026 is made the same way, one garment to one person.

Rikki Kher grew up in London. His mother was a seamstress who made his clothes until he was eleven, and his father worked in textiles. He studied business at NYU Stern and spent years in fabric and sourcing across several countries before starting Kardo in the early 2000s with one sewing machine and one master tailor, who still works there today. The workshop is in Noida on the edge of Delhi, the team is now around a hundred people, and the first Kardo store opened in Delhi's Lodhi Colony late in 2025.

Kardo's cloth does not come from large mills. It comes from craft communities across India, often with a name attached. Kher has said that what gets called slow fashion is simply how clothing has always been made in India: through time, skill and people.

Kardo's Autumn/Winter 2026 is titled DAFTAR, and one thing is clear in the drop Onion received. The shapes are all familiar to Western eyes: a Harrington, an MA-1, a work jacket, an overshirt. The cloth is not. The MA-1 is a herringbone handwoven at Khamir Craft in Bhuj and hand block printed in the same region. The Luis shirt is khadi from Udyog Bharti, embroidered panel by panel in ari stitch by Md. Ashraf, a master embroiderer from Bengal. Even the smallest thing in the drop, a bandana, passed through the hands of Sufiyan Khatri in Ajrakhpur, Gujarat.

Shapes everyone knows, in cloth you know the makers of. That is what Kardo has always done, and this season is no different.

The first drop at Onion is four jackets, a shirt and an Ajrakh bandana: silk, handloom cotton, jacquard and khadi in the same delivery.

A garment with its maker's name inside feels different to wear, even if you cannot quite say why.
