Wanderer คือรุ่นที่เปิดตัวในซีซั่น Autumn/Winter 25 เป็นทรงที่เพรียวที่สุดในไลน์อัป พื้นยางทรงเตี้ยจาก Vibram ให้สัมผัสพื้นชัดกว่ารุ่นอื่น mudguard อันเป็นลายเซ็นของแบรนด์โอบรอบตัวรองเท้าทั้งคู่ ไม่ใช่แค่ปลายเท้า ลิ้นเป็นแบบ bellows ชิ้นเดียว จึงไม่มีช่องให้น้ำกับเศษหินเข้าตรงร่องเชือก ซับในหนังวัวอิตาลี ประกอบที่โปรตุเกสทุกคู่

It Started With One Shoe

Most footwear brands launch with a range, so there is something for everyone and something to reorder. Tarvas did the opposite. It opened with a single shoe and spent close to five years refining it before thinking about a second.

That is how Tarvas of Helsinki began, and it is why the line-up still fits on one hand.

Tarvas was founded in 2017 by Jukka Lehtinen, Pekka Keinänen and Harri Saarikoski. The office and the prototyping workshop sit in Kruununhaka in central Helsinki, where they cut samples by hand before anything goes into production. The first model was the Explorer, and it took nearly five years to arrive.

What Tarvas writes about itself is more interesting than what most brands write. They say plainly that they are not claiming to be a green company. What they can do is be a better option in a market full of low-quality goods and exploited labour. Every raw material comes from European suppliers, in Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Sweden and the UK, production stays in Finland and Portugal, and since 2020 deadstock and upcycled materials have gone into the collections. There is a re-soling service too.

Wanderer arrived for the Autumn/Winter 25 season with the sleekest profile in the range. A low-profile Vibram rubber sole keeps the ground closer than the other models. The signature mudguard wraps the whole shoe rather than just the toe. The tongue is a one-piece bellows, so there is no gap at the laces for water or grit to find. Italian cow leather lining, every pair assembled in Portugal.

A shoe designed to be re-soled is a shoe its makers expect to outlast one season. That is where Tarvas stands.

Onion has three materials: black Italian leather, and upcycled Cordura in black and brown. Same last, same build. The only real question is how formal you want the foot to read.

A brand that makes few shoes usually knows the ones it makes better than a brand that makes many.
