# DANTON FW26: Dungaree, Oxford, Lambswool

## The Clothes the Paris Metro Wore to Work

Through the 1970s and 80s, the people driving the Paris metro and the people running the French railways wore garments that came out of the same factory. Those garments were not designed to be admired. They were designed to be worn every day without being thought about.

That constraint still runs through every piece in Danton FW26.

Danton began as **Manufacture Textile du Centre**, a workshop in Châtres-sur-Cher, France, founded in 1931. In 1935 Gabriel Danton bought into the company, renamed it DANTON and registered the red diamond logo the brand still carries. The workshop made overalls, work jackets, work trousers and aprons for the Paris market, and through the 70s and 80s supplied uniforms to R.A.T.P. and S.N.C.F. Since 2016 the brand has been run worldwide out of Japan by Boy's Co., which is why a Danton shirt today holds Japanese finishing inside a French pattern.

**Fall/Winter 2026** arrives without a manifesto. Danton simply does what it already does, more carefully: the round collar pullover, the dungaree shirt, easy pants, lambswool cardigans, Cordura bags. The question underneath is a plain one. If a garment is going to stay with you for five years, how should it be built?

The best Danton piece is not the one you remember buying. It is the one you reach for so often you forget there was a version of your life without it.
